I don't know if I'm being followed, best not to take any chances. Time to make use of my training. Time to blend in. This is a small enough place, out of the way. I should be able to rest here for a day or two.

With my skills it is easy to disguise myself to blend in with the locals. My accent is flawless. No one would suspect that my home is much farther away. Unless they look closely most people just assume I'm a child or a short youth... only if they realize my heritage do they look at me with wonder or confusion. It is difficult to disguise the fact that I'm a halfling.

But that is one of the things that worked so well for my family. No one suspects halflings to be so good at what my family does, what they have made into a rather comfortable lifestyle. As the youngest of 8, and with ample thieves in the family business it was decided that my particular skills could be developed elsewhere... in more interesting ways...

So I was sent away at a young age to train with an assassin's guild. I was a quick student and learned my lessons well. Due to my particular abilities my master called me "Nimble Shadow". I wanted so much to belong in my family, to prove that I was worthy. Now I know I'll never fit in there... I can never go back.

My mind flashes to the image that haunts me, the one that I will never be able to forget. Those eyes... shocked... confused... betrayed. My first job, and my last. I could do the technical aspects perfectly. I didn't recon on the emotional aspects. Some people are just not killers. Seems I'm one of them.

Yes, this is exactly what I need, a couple days in a nice quiet town...
