What's the deal with Riff anyways??

Harken unto the tale of Riffington Alexander Swansfargle Schwartzenheimer Schmittsenkugle von Ulm! His is a story of family pride, family business, and how to avoid both of them.

Primed and trained to become the handpicked recipent of a successful family owned business four generations strong, young Riff decided very early on, that while fun, it really wasn't for him. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, he decided to seek out bardic training. In short time he managed to find it in the tutelaige of one Getafic the Wild. (A failed druid, he learned that the only sure way to get people to listen to your message was to put it in a song, and then pretend to not care one single jot about it in the first place.)

Out and away from the rural wilds that were more favored by Getafic, Riff found his great opening in a chance performance near the Friendly Arm Inn where a member of the noble court from Alaghon out of the Vilhon Reach happened to be staying. Performing as a standard fare bard, Riff managed, as he often did, to get well off topic and found himself performing in his typical comedic style.

Impressing the noble he managed to secure himself an invitation to perform in the Assembly houses of Alaghon in doing this, he managed to impress the ruling duke of the Assembly in such a way as to make him the house jester. While the notion of remaining in the lap of luxury was more to his liking than rather wandering around in the woods and trails for the rest of his life, the idea of acting like a complete fool did not. Striking a deal with the Duke to be given the creative freedom to maintain his performances as they were, but with a more comedic angle to them as long as he was free to avoid wearing the typical jester’s garb and adopt a mentally deranged stance, he stayed.

Now the manner in which he actually found himself in Var the Golden….well, that’s a whole OTHER story…not to mention a whole other type of funny.
