I ordered a copy of the APG and a copy of the Adventurer's armory.

I don't know if you would allow usage of it- I figured since it was just equipment? Either way I had a little left to use on the gift card so no big deal.

Just to help speed things along next session, these are some of the spells I am looking for. I'm not sure if I can buy 3rd level spells ast this point since I can't cast them. I am also looking to barter most of the contents of my own book to get the prices down.

Okay, I rolled up everything. You did not encounter any patrols in New Haliad and so had no issues with that. Unfortunately, I also rolled to see if the mages you'd met would wish to purchase any spells from you, and that came up negative. Sorry. Below are the spells that are available for you to buy on the list you sent.

To answer your question about purchasing 3rd level spells, what you're looking at is buying scrolls, so technically you could buy any spells that are available in scroll form, but you aren't able to scribe it into your spellbook until you are of an appropriate level to cast the spell. Price per scroll is as follows:

1st level - 25 gp
2nd level - 150 gp
3rd level - 375 gp

Now, here's the kicker. On top of scroll purchase, you will also need to buy special materials to scribe the scroll into your spellbook. This cost is per spell to be scribed, and the cost is as follows:

1st level: 10 gp
2nd level: 40 gp
3rd level: 90 gp

In addition to the monetary requirements here, for every spell you wish to scribe into your spellbook, you must spend an hour's time studying the spell, at the end of which you must make a Spellcraft check of 15 + spell's level (gaining a +2 bonus to your roll for divination spells, as they are your specialty). Success means you have learned it well enough to transcribe it; failure means you can't understand the spell well enough, and must wait until you've gained another rank in Spellcraft before you can try to do so again.

Transcribing a scroll into you spellbook destroys the scroll.

So, there you are, sir. Do with it as you will!

Just to be clear, the prices you listed for scrolls don't include the 1st and 2nd level price to look and transcribe, correct? There was a different price for that that you allowed me to pay for on Tuesday. Because copying spells from someone's spell books does not harm the spell book, one wizard out of three could make himself quite a lot of money instead of the competition in town by "renting" his spellbooks as well as saving himself a lot of time from making scrolls to sell if he didn't need to do so.

If you don't want to do it that way, I understand. I know you are a fair guy and will still make it worthwhile to play a caster, so I'm not worried about it. Although the money I paid to look at another alchemists formulae book to inscribe them in my own as a wizard should be adjusted as well.

Also, I would have informed Deklan that I would have liked to have the following spells as well, if they could be found.

2nd Level - cat's grace, flaming sphere, hideous laughter, protection from arrows, scorching ray, spider climb

3rd Level - hold person, lightning bolt, protection from energy, phantom steed

The following spells are within the spellbook found inside the Chimera den:

0 level - All (+ "Spark" from APG)

1st level - detect secret doors, grease, jump, hypnotism, unseen servant, alarm, vanish (APG)

2nd level - hypnotic pattern, see invisibility, locate object, magic mouth, levitate, acid arrow, glitterdust

3rd level - fly, beast shape

4th level - wall of fire, globe of invulnerability (lesser), fear

5th level - cloudkill, mage's faithful hound, false vision

6th level - planar binding, circle of death


PS: Also, Matt, to answer the other question right quick, Eleder has the possibility of up to 6th level spells that can be bought. I will make it possible to attain higher level spells later on down the road, if necessary, but the arrival time will be doubled, since they will need to go farther afoot to get them. (Although, I don't believe that any city sells 9th level spells . . . )
