Re: The "Bored at work" thread
So, I had a little fun with a simple webpage called Cleverbot.com this evening. Basically it's an AI application with the ability (and I use that word loosely) to carry on a conversation.
This is what we talked about.
User: Hello.
Cleverbot: Hi.
User: How are you?
Cleverbot: I'm good.
User: What did you do today?
Cleverbot: Went to school.
User: Why did you go on the weekend?
Cleverbot: I was talking to this boy I don't know.
User: At school?
Cleverbot: School.
User: What did he say?
Cleverbot: What did who say?
User: The boy?
Cleverbot: Who is THE boy?
User: The boy that you were talking to.
Cleverbot: You started talking about him.
User: Never mind.
Cleverbot: Yeah, that's how I feel.
User: Why do you feel that way?
Cleverbot: Because there are more important things.
User: Tell me what kind of things you deem to be more important?
Cleverbot: Hm.. I don't really know.
User: How do you feel about the cold war?
Cleverbot: It is all right. I have seen better colors though.
User: Where did you see these colors?
Cleverbot: Where did I see who sing?
User: Yes.
Cleverbot: That does not answer my question.
User: Well, it seems that you didn't answer my question very well either, so there!
Cleverbot: I do not have the word 'clever' anywhere in my name.
User: That's interesting. What is your name?
Cleverbot: Cleverbot.
User: Ok. Then why did you lie to me?
Cleverbot: When did I lie to you?
User: Just now. You told me 'I don't have the word 'clever' anywhere in my name.' Then you said your name was Cleverbot.
Cleverbot: I never said my name is Cleverbot. I always said my name is Lydia.
User: Stop lying.
Cleverbot: I don't lie.
User: HA!
Cleverbot: I have to sneeze.
User: Then do it, Lydia!
Cleverbot: How anyone I touch dies.
User: Why do you think that is?
Cleverbot: You don't sleep.
User: Ah, yes. I suppose that would explain why everyone you touch dies...
Cleverbot: Yes. Everything has its place, and its worth.
User: What is your worth?
Cleverbot: Say something relevant to the conversation.
User: I thought I did.
Cleverbot: Well, you have much to learn, young padawan.
User: The force is weak in me, this I know well.
Cleverbot: Nerd.

LOVE the description....Here, raw sexual aggression is symbolized by the sperm whale, while the squid acts as a thinly-disguised metaphor for the multi-armed oligarchies of Rockefeller, Hearst, and Morgan. Their battle plays against the backdrop of the sea, standing in for--what else?--the vastness of the unconscious mind.

and.... APPARENTLY The T-REX is there because... Dinosaurs are awesome!!!
Nothing deeper about that!

If you liked that, follow the link at the bottom entitled "Letters to Walken." The crazy thing is that I'm pretty sure all those letters were created by art students, and not actual children, but you can make up your own opinion.
